This is a handy device provided that you: (1) also have an electrician install "switch gear" so that you can easily switch selected household circuits over to using the back-up generator and (2) respect the MaxGen instructions as to fueling. My electrician installed a separate box with breaker-like switches that allowed for very easy change-over from the power grid to the generator for pre-selected room circuits. (During a blizzard, you don't want to have to deal with a bunch of extension cords an do-it-yourself re-wiring on the fly.) That switch gear cost almost as much as the MasGen itself, but was well worth it. I used the back-up system twice during the first winter, and was a God-send. We have unreliable power where I live and I telecommute a good bit. With 8500 Watts, we had all the comforts of home including well water, back-up oil fired heat, TV, internet, refrigerator, kitchen, bathroom, office and bedroom lights. I did have a hard time starting the generator the first blizzard, since I had not respected the MaxGen directions about fueling and had let it hold gasoline for several months with stabilizer added. Don't rely on a gasoline stabilizer; the unit should have fresh gas and should be fully drained when not needed. One more thing--one of the tires was defective and had to be replaced within the first year for about $10. -- Works well but must respect the fueling instructions
THE PRODUCT FITS FINE & IS JUST LIKE THE PICTURE SHOWS, BUT IT IS REAL THIN NYLON & IN SOME AREAS YOU CAN SEE THROW IT, IT IS NOT A HEAVY DUTY COVER FOR OUTSIDE USE, AS MY GENERATOR WILL BE OUTSIDE WHEN I USE IT & IN WHEATHERING CONDITIONS, SO I HAD TO BUY A CAN OF WATER RESISTANT SPRAY TO APPLY ON IT, SO I CAN TRY TO PROTECT THE GENERATOR FROM THE RAIN & SNOW. IF I KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BE SO LIGHT WEIGHT FOR THE MONEY, I WOULD HAVE HAD ONE MADE FOR THE SAME PRICE, MADE FROM HEAVY DUTY MATERIAL, SORRY FOR THE BAD REVIEW, KIDD -- FAIR REVIEW
